The Rosedale Library Door
A walnut library wall in a Rosedale home that pivots open to reveal a private reading room.
The brief was simple: a library that felt as if it had always been there — and a room behind it that no guest would ever suspect. We built the bookcase from quarter-sawn walnut with a hand-rubbed oil finish, matching the existing millwork down to the profile of the crown.
A concealed pivot carries the full weight of the shelving and its books, so the door opens with a single fingertip. The trigger? A first-edition spine on the third shelf.
- Solid walnut, hand-finished
- Centre-pivot hardware rated for 450 kg
- Magnetic latch released by a book trigger
